Jim Walker is the chief photographer and photo editor of the Community Newspaper Company's Metro Unit, a group of weekly newspapers in and around Boston. His photos have won awards from the National Press Photographers Association, New England Press Association, Suburban Newspaper Association, and were included in the Danforth Museum's New England Photographers Exhibition in 2003.
Walker was born in Maine and graduated with a B.A. in history from Connecticut College in 1993. He started his career in journalism as a reporter in 1996, writing for a weekly newspaper in Rochester, New York. In 1998, he made the switch to photojournalism, freelancing for the Associated Press, The Boston Globe and CNC weeklies and dailies. In 2001-2002, he was staff photographer at The Enterprise in Brockton, Mass. He returned to CNC in 2002, and became photo editor in April, 2003.
Walker is a member of the National Press Photographers Association, Boston Press Photographers Association and the Photographic Resource Center.
He lives in Newtonville, Mass.
